The OGC Testbed19 GeoDataCube service
was established by rasdaman GmbH
in the course of OGC Testbed19 and has been sustained thereafter.
Results of Testbed-19: GDC and OGC/ISO WCPS both address datacube processing.
Differences are:
- WCPS high-level, concise query language, protocol-agnostic
- GDC: specific protocol, offers basics (subsetting), relies on other specs for processing
- WCPS and GDC, therefore, are complementary
In T19, rasdaman translates GDC to WCPS for execution, thereby showing that the power of WCPS is a superset over GDC.
Recommendation: provide WCPS-on-GDC as a normative, explicit option
The OGC Testbed-19 GeoDataCube service
provides a series of datacubes, offered through the mature, established OGC WCS and WCPS standards
as well as the recently started OGC GeoDataCube API (caveat: specification is at an early stage and likely to change substantially).
Among the data provided are EU Copernicus CLMS layers, CMIP6, ERA5 weather and further data from ECMWF.
The service was established by rasdaman GmbH in the course of OGC Testbed19 and has been sustained thereafter.
